Farmer Erin

I mentioned briefly in my last post that Erin has started volunteering with WWOOF – World Wide Opportunities in Organic Farming.  Erin’s  secret wish is to have a farm with lots of goats, some alpacas, and wine grapes. We don’t want to make the wine – just sell the grapes 🙂 The farm she is volunteering at is near Hollister – a very unexciting town east of Monterey county. They mainly produce olive oil, and apparently grow a lot of lavender!

A change of subject….

Although we are no longer within walking distance of the water (and I do miss evening walks along the coast) we do have some nice walking trails in and around the neighborhood. The trails are far enough “out” that we see bunnies, wild turkeys, lizards, and rumor has it there are mountain lions, although I’m glad to report I haven’t seen any!

When the fog isn’t settled in thickly – somewhat of a rarity – then the views are really nice! Last Saturday morning was one of those times:
