Alaska Part IV: Juneau, Glaciers, & Seaplanes

Our favorite stop on the trip was Juneau! Although we were only there for an evening (about 2pm-10pm), we really packed a lot in! Our first stop was the Red Dog Saloon for some local beer. Afterwards, we headed out to the Mendenhall Glacier. The ice at this glacier is about 1,000 years old. You can take a short hike out to the glacier and a nearby waterfall.

The glacier…and a random stranger in the corner! 😉

To give you some perspective on the size of the glacier – that is me in the corner!

And, of course, the requisite picture of Erin with the local law enforcement vehicle!

After the glacier, we took a seaplane ride over Juneau and the surrounding areas. We had AMAZING views of the glacier fields and snow planes. The ride was about 40 minutes long, but it felt like 5 minutes! I’ll let the views speak for themselves!

Our plane!

Ready to go!

View of Juneau and we prepared for landing.

Happy fliers!

We returned to the boat happy, tired, and ready for our next (and final) day in Alaska!
