A Weekend Trip Wine tasting in Napa

After rallying for the post office in San Francisco, Erin and I headed to Napa Wine Country. We had a free night at a time-share resort and so we wanted to take advantage and get out of town – even if only for 24 hours!

We stayed at the Gaia, which is a green hotel located in American Canyon, in Napa County. Since it is wine country, that evening the hotel hosted a free tasting event. After the tasting, we headed out for dinner and called it a night.

Since we received the hotel for free, there was a catch. We had to meet at the Meritage Resort and hear a  pitch about their time share. After about an hour we were free! And they had a lovely wine cellar on the resort grounds called Trinitas Cellars. They had some nice wines and the tasting room was built into the hill.

We had some great wine and weather and decided to check out a few more wineries. As you can see there are a couple of wineries in Napa County.

Tastings in Napa can be a bit expensive, we recommend asking your hotel if they have and 2 for 1 tasting cards. Most wineries do this because the more people tasting wine, the more people buying wine.

One of our favorite wineries on this trip was Sterling Vineyards. We consider it a must go to winery. They have great wine, but you also get an experience. Sterling’s tasting room is located on a hill and is accessible via tram. Once as the tasting room, you have amazing views of the valley.

Overall, we had a great time getting away and never miss a chance to taste some wine!
